SHORT BIO: Born on September 20, 1998 in Lantzville, British Columbia, Dylan Ferguson was a reliable young netminder with the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL when he was drafted 194th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2017. He was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights two days later. Ferguson was back in juniors for the 2017-18 season, however, due to numerous injuries faced by the Golden Knights’ goaltending, he was recalled from the Blazers and dressed as backup in seven total NHL games. He also made his NHL debut on November 14, 2017 vs the Edmonton Oilers. Replacing Maxime Lagace in goal for the final 9:14 of the game, Ferguson stopped 1 of the 2 shots he faced as Vegas fell 8-2.
Ferguson played one more season in juniors before officially turning pro in 2019-20, splitting the season with Fort Wayne and Chicago in the ECHL and AHL respectively. In 2020-21, he led the Fort Wayne Komets to the Kelly Cup Championship. After a season as the backup in Henderson (which also saw him recalled to Vegas for three additional games), Ferguson joined the Maple Leafs’ AHL organization for the 2022-23 season before being signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators due to their own injury woes in goal. Ferguson appeared in two games for the Sens, going 1-1 with a solid 0.940% save average. In 2023-24, he headed to Belarus to play with Dinamo Minsk in the KHL before returning to North America for the 2024-25 season.As of the time of this write-up, he is currently in the Minnesota Wild organization and even dressed on their NHL team as a backup on January 18, 2025. As his pro hockey career is still ongoing and a return to the NHL is not out of the question, his career stats will not be posted at this time. |
