ITEM DESCRIPTION: In 2011-12, Jason Bacashihua utilized this Philadelphia Flyers Orange Set 1 home jersey in a backup capacity in three games of action near the end of the season. It features light wear as to be expected, and is a beautiful item from the final NHL roster appearances for this former first round draft pick.
SHORT BIO: Born on September 20, 1982 in Garden City, Michigan, Jason Bacashihua was a star goalie for the Chicago Freeze of the NAHL when he was drafted 26th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2001. Joining the OHL's Plymouth Whalers in 2001-02, he continued his dominant play in juniors and also represented Team USA in that year's IIHF World Junior Championships. That season, Bacashihua also got into one appearance with the Utah Grizzlies in the AHL, thereby having his first taste of the professional ranks. He became a full-time pro in 2002-03, predominantly playing in the AHL, though he did get multiple NHL recalls with the Stars in both 2002-03 and 2003-04. Despite the recalls, he saw no NHL action.
After the lockout season in the St. Louis Blues' system in 2004-05, Bacashihua began the 2005-06 season in the minors, but got his NHL recall in December. He made his NHL debut for St. Louis on December 16, 2005. Facing the Chicago Blackhawks, he stopped 14 of 16 shots that he faced in 34:19 of relief action for Curtis Sanford as the Blues fell 5-1. He ended up appearing in 19 NHL games that season, largely due to an injury that put him out of action for 29 games. He also represented the USA at the IIHF World Championships that season. He appeared in a further 19 games with St. Louis in 2006-07 and again represented the USA at the IIHF Worlds. Thereafter, Bacashihua spent the majority of his time in the AHL for the next five seasons, getting occasional recalls by the Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers along the way, but never playing in further NHL games. He did also win an AHL Calder Cup in 2010. For the remainder of his playing career from 2012-13 to 2021-22, Bacashihua did a world tour as he played in Germany, Slovakia, Korea, Poland, Italy, Hungary, and England. Since retiring from play, he has taken up coaching. In his NHL career, Jason Bacashihua appeared in 38 regular season games, going 7-17-4 with one assist, a 3.19GAA, and a 0.897% save average. He did not appear in any NHL playoff games. |
