SHORT BIO: Born on January 21, 1986 in Milford, Connecticut, Jonathan Quick was drafted 72nd overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 2005, though after his draft year, he played two seasons of NCAA hockey with the University of Massachusetts before turning pro. In 2007-08, he entered the pro ranks, starting the season, spending the majority of the season with Manchester and Reading. That season, he also made his NHL debut for the Kings on December 6, 2007 vs the Buffalo Sabres. Starting in goal, he stopped 15 shots in an 8-2 win. By his second season in the pros, Quick had overtaken the starting role in Los Angeles, ultimately remaining a cornerstone of the franchise until he was traded in 2022-23. During his time with the Kings, he was a three-time NHL All-Star, a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist, a two-time Stanley Cup Champ, a Conn Smythe Trophy winner, and a two-time William M. Jennings Trophy winner. He also holds most goaltending records for the franchise. After being traded by the Kings to the Blue Jackets, and then immediately to the Golden Knights, Quick won his third Stanley Cup, but his first as a back-up goalie. In 2023-24, Quick signed as a free agent with the New York Rangers and as of 2025-26, still plays there.
Among his numerous career accolades include winning an Olympic Silver Medal (2010), appearing in three NHL All-Star Games (2012, 2016, 2018), being a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist (2012, 2016), a three-time Stanley Cup Champion (2012, 2014, 2023), a Conn Smythe Trophy winner (2012), a two-time William M. Jennings Trophy winner (2014, 2018), being the all-time winningest American NHL goalie, and holding most of the significant Los Angeles Kings goaltending records. |
