The origins of what eventually became our goalie museum project began in the early 2000s. Starting life as an Arturs Irbe hockey card "Super Collection" which was once published in a Super Collector edition of Beckett magazine back in the Fall of 2012, the acquisition of an Irbe game used stick in 2009 inspired our desire to preserve the history of goaltending through its game used memorabilia. Originally called "Bruce C. Goaltending Museum", then renamed to "BRC Goalie Museum", we are now an incorporated museum-focused business called "Heroes of the Crease: Goaltending Museum and Memorabilia Ltd." (or "Heroes of the Crease Ltd" for short). Of course we never forget our roots that led us to this exciting and ambitious project as we are also actively involved in the sports card world.
Our mission at Heroes of the Crease: Our main mission is the preservation of the history of the game of hockey through the complete preservation of its brave North American major-pro goaltenders and their many game worn relics. In order to truly appreciate the whole story about pro goaltending, however, we must look not just at the legends and the superstars, the players whose names you recognize the instant they are mentioned, but even those athletes who appeared for a short instant, a person with mere minutes of major-pro experience or perhaps with that one career start. Altogether, they form a complete picture of the greatest, and toughest position in all of sport. Like the legends who earned their immortal status, the lesser-knowns must also be remembered. They all realized a lifelong dream in a position which gave them the statistically lowest odds to make it. In the sports card world, our mission is to entertain, find tough cards for loyal clients, and to deliver cards to excited customers while using the financial proceeds from our card adventures to continue to fund our museum project!
Our vision at Heroes of the Crease: The vision with this project is not just simply to have a bunch of game used items sitting in a closet, not at all. Here at Heroes of the Crease, we seek to get at least one piece of game used memorabilia from every goalie to ever play in the highest level of North American pro hockey, whether it be in the regular season or playoffs (wherever possible). Looking not just at jerseys, but the entire spectrum of the goaltending experience, we hunt for everything from sticks, to jerseys, to pads, to gloves, to blockers, and even to masks to paint a complete picture. A daunting and near-impossible task, our grand vision is to create a fun and educational travelling exhibition with which we can travel the world and spread the knowledge about the history of the best position in all of sports. To set up a goaltending museum that travels the world and goes to all of its hockey hubs, from Edmonton to Helsinki, and everything in between! We want to share our passion for this project with the world! With our sports card endeavors, we envision a successful means to distribute many cards and bring joy to thousands of loyal clients!
