Zach Fucale
2015-16 Montreal Canadiens game/event worn CCM Blocker
What you are looking at right now is a 2015-16 game and event worn CCM goalie blocker that was used by Zach Fucale at the 2015-16 Rookie Photoshoot event, with the Montreal Canadiens in the pre-season, and with St. John's in the AHL. It exhibits excellent game wear and is photomatched to his Young Guns rookie card.
Born on May 28, 1995, in Rosemere, Quebec, Fucale was drafted 36th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2013 after leading Halifax to the Memorial Cup title. He represented Team Canada at the IIHF World Juniors in both 2013-14 and 2014-15, helping lead Canada to the Gold Medal in the latter. He turned pro in 2015-16 and spent most of the season with the St. John's IceCaps, though he did get recalled for three games by the Habs in December 2015. Spending most of his time in the minor-pros thereafter, Fucale also led Canada to Spengler Cup titles in 2016-17 and 2019-20. In 2020-21, he and Pheonix Copley shared the AHL's Best Goaltending Duo award.
Then, on November 11, 2021, 8 years after being drafted, and now a member of the Washington Capitals, Fucale made his long-awaited NHL debut. Starting in goal for the Caps vs the Detroit Red Wings, Fucale stopped all 21 shots that he faced in a 2-0 shutout win. Fucale also ended up setting the NHL record for the longest shutout streak to begin an NHL career as he went 138:07 before allowing his first goal. He ultimately played in 4 NHL games that season. In 2022-23, he was recalled a pair of times, but never got to play. In Hershey, however, Fucale was a 2023 Calder Cup Champion as the number two goalie behind Hunter Shepard.
Though it appears that he may be heading to the KHL for the 2023-24 season, his career numbers will not be posted at this time as he may yet return to the NHL.
