2017-18 game worn philadelphia flyers White Road Set 2 jersey
Michal Neuvirth was a World Junior Bronze medalist with the Czech Republic in 2006 and he was drafted 34th overall by the Washington Capitals that same year. The next year, he led the OHL's Plymouth Whalers to the Championship while he also racked up the hardware for having the best save percentage, best goals against average, best rookie goals against average, and lowest team goals against average. In 2008-09, he transitioned to the pros and in his first year, he made his NHL debut. On February 14, 2009, the Capitals were facing the Tampa Bay Lightning and their young goalies, Mike McKenna and Karri Ramo. Neuvirth stopped 31 of 32 shots in a 5-1 victory. He appeared in five NHL games that year, though he did lead the Hershey Bears to the AHL Calder Cup. The following season, he got into 17 more NHL games as he again led Hershey to a consecutive Calder Cup win.
Washington was all-in at this point, Neuvirth was their goalie of the future. In 2010-11, he played 48 games for the Capitals as he led them into the second round of the playoffs. After that season, due to a combination of injuries, other up-and-comers, and a lockout, each subsequent season in Washington saw him with less and less games before he was traded to Buffalo in exchange for Jaroslav Halak in 2013-14. After 29 games with the Sabres, he was traded to the Islanders where he appeared in 5 games. He was signed as a free agent in 2015 by the Philadelphia Flyers and he spent four seasons there, appearing in 89 games, though losing lots of time to injuries. In 2019 he was given a tryout by the Toronto Maple Leafs before he was cut, again with injuries playing a part in that. Ultimately, injuries have prevented him from playing another pro game since, though he is still under contract in Czechia with Sparta Praha, though a recent interview indicates that he may jump into coaching sooner rather than later.
In his NHL career, Michal Neuvirth appeared in 257 regular season games, recording a 105-93-26 record with 11 shutouts, 4 assists, a 2.71GAA, and a 0.910% save average. He also appeared in 16 playoff games, recording a 7-7 record with a 2.32GAA, 2 shutouts, and a 0.919% save average.
What you are looking at right now is a game worn 2017-18 Philadelphia Flyers White Set 2 jersey worn by Michal Neuvirth. He utilized this jersey as one of three white jerseys in set 2 that he used from December 7 to February 18, 2018. It features very light wear, though is photomatched to what appears to be either the second or third period of a February 16 match vs the Blue Jackets. The timeframe would also mean that this jersey was possibly worn for his 100th career NHL win on February 10, 2018 vs Arizona, given that game saw him wear a jersey with almost no wear as his other white set 2 jerseys did have more visible wear than this one.
