2014-15/2015-16 Game worn warwick goalie mask
Michael Houser was born on September 13, 1992 in Wexford, Pennsylvania. He was an undrafted goalie who blossomed in the OHL with the London Knights. After leading them to the Memorial Cup victory in 2012 and also being named the OHL and CHL Goaltender of the Year, as well as the OHL Most Outstanding Player, Houser was signed by the Florida Panthers. In their system, he had opportunities with them in the NHL pre-season, though spent the majority of his time in the AHL and ECHL before they opted not to re-sign him in 2015.
He spent 2015-16 with the Los Angeles Kings' minor league system, then was invited to the Blue Jackets' Training Camp in 2016 before again being re-assigned to the minors. That season, he also got into a goalie fight against Quad City's Hungarian goalie, Adam Vay, though Houser did not fare too well in that match. Houser then attended Arizona's training camp the next year, though he again spent the season in the minors. In 2018-19, he was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Year. He played one more season in the ECHL before his hard work and perseverance gave him his chance. With the cancellation of the ECHL's season, Houser was retained on the Rochester Americans, then in March, he was officially signed by the Buffalo Sabres. After five games as a back-up only and time on the taxi squad, he got his opportunity on May 3, 2021. Getting the start against the Islanders, Houser stopped 34 of 36 shots as he and the Sabres defeated the Isles 4-2. He then defeated them again a day later by stopping 45 of 48, as well as all 3 shootout shots. He played two more games that season. In 2021-22 he was splitting the season with Rochester and Cincinnati and is still an active player.
As his career is still ongoing, career stats will not be posted at this time.
What you are looking at right now is an amazing 2014-15/2015-16 game worn Warwick goalie mask custom painted for and used by Michael Houser. It is matched to game use with the Florida Panthers in the 2014 NHL pre-season, the San Antonio Rampage in 2014-15, as well as with the Ontario Reign and Manchester Monarchs in 2015-16. The artwork is stunning, the wear is amazing. This is an absolute beauty *October 11, 2022 info update (Thank you to Adam Houser for providing us with this very interesting information). The "MB" on the backplate of thee mask are Houser's parents "Bill" and "Monica" and it is something he has always added to his masks. In addition, the quote "Believe the Impossible" with the cross is also on all of his masks and has both meaning and value to him. He started doing that in his time with London in the OHL. After being undrafted, underrated, and somewhat written off by NHL teams, USA Hockey, and scouts alike, and despite a successful junior career, Houser held the personal belief that he was indeed good enough to succeed at the next level and thus adopted that mantra. It originates from Saint Rita "the patron saint of impossible dreams."
