Born on June 26, 1965, Alain Raymond was drafted 215th overall in 1983 by the Washington Capitals. A solid QMJHL prospect, Raymond played 43 games with Team Canada in 1985-86 before turning pro the following year. After an IHL season which saw Raymond lead the league with the lowest GAA, he made his NHL debut on December 9, 1987, against the Hartford Whalers. He played 40 minutes in relief of Clint Malarchuk and stopped 18 of the 20 shots that he faced on that day. He never played in an NHL game ever again as he alternated between the ECHL, IHL and AHL, eventually retiring from play in 1992. He then took up coaching in 1995, taking up an assistant coaching role with Rimouski, even winning the Memorial Cup in 2000. He is currently the Regional Director for the Canadian Cancer Society in Quebec.
