1995-96 detroit whalers Game-Used COOPER SK2000 Helmet
Mike Minard, born November 1, 1976, was drafted 83rd overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. From that point on he played in nearly every minor league to the NHL including the IHL, UHL, AHL, and ECHL before finally making his NHL debut in the 1999-00 season, on April 8, 2000 against the Calgary Flames. In that game, he made 33 saves on 36 shots and posted a win in what would turn out to be the lone NHL game of his career. Minard continued to play in the AHL, ECHL, and CHL, as well as two seasons in Europe before finally retiring at the end of the 2007-08 season. He then went on to become a goalie coach for the Portland Pirates from 2011-13 before becoming an assistant coach in 2013-14 and then being relieved of the position that same season.
In his career, Minard appeared in one NHL game, recording a 1-0-0 record with a 3.00GAA and a 0.917% save average. He appeared in no NHL playoff games.
This helmet was worn by Minard during the 1995-96 Detroit Whalers season. A white helmet and a black/dark blue helmet were alternated between home and away games. The helmet can be seen worn in Mike Minard's 1995-96 Slapshot OHL pre-rookie card.
