1997-98 Pre Season game worn toronto maple leafs Jersey
Glenn Healy was born on August 23, 1962 in Pickering, Ontario. Boasting a fine collegiate career with Western Michigan University for four seasons, the Los Angeles Kings noticed something in him when they signed him in 1985. Even though he spent that 1985-86 season largely in the minor leagues, he did get a chance and made his NHL debut on November 27, 1985, a humiliating 9-0 defeat at the hands of the Hartford Whalers in which he allowed six goals on thirty five shots. The following season, he assumed the full time backup role in Los Angeles, appearing in 34 games before becoming the starter by the following year. He was then traded to the Islanders in 1989 and there he played for four seasons, even leading the team into the Conference Finals of the playoffs in 1992-93. After that stellar season, Healy was drafted by the expansion Ducks, and then chosen by Tampa Bay the next day, before his rights were traded to the Rangers. Backing up Mike Richter in New York, Healy was a Stanley Cup Winner in 1994, appearing in 29 regular season and two playoff games for the team that season. He backed up Richter for four seasons before being acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent in 1997. There, Healy played the final four seasons of his career before retiring at the end of 2000-01.
In his 437 game NHL career, Healy recorded a 166-190-47 record with 13 shutouts, a 3.37GAA, a 0.887% save average, and 15 assists. In 37 career playoff games, he recorded a 13-15 record with a 3.36GAA, a 0.881% save average, and four shutouts.
The jersey you are looking at right now is a 1997-98 pre-season worn jersey used by Glenn Healy as he competed against Felix Potvin and Marcel Cousineau for a position on the team which he eventually got by getting Cousineau sent to the minors. The wear is noticeable on the sweater as it features some piling, as well as plenty of stick and puck marks.
