This circa 2013 CCM catching glove was used by Swiss netminder, Reto Berra, while with the Calgary Flames organization and/or Team Switzerland. It seems to have an extra padded palm, so it is likely that it may be a practice glove or something that was worn in training camp. It exhibits tons of wear. Heavy adhesive residue on the cuff seems to indicate that there may have been a pad-skin on it at one point, and may have had a different aesthetic.

SHORT BIO: Born on January 3, 1987, in Bulach, Switzerland, Reto Berra was drafted 106th overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2006 following a strong showing at the 2006 IIHF World Juniors. After that season, he only continued to improve overseas as he was a Swiss champ in 2009, then a Spengler Cup champ in 2012, as well as a a two time goalie of the year in Switzerland in 2012 and 2013 respectively. He was traded to the Calgary Flames in 2013 before leading Switzerland to an IIHF Silver in 2013.
The hype was strong with Berra and he transitioned to the North American pro ranks in 2013-14. He was near-instantly the #2 goalie on the Calgary Flames behind Karri Ramo and on November 3, 2013 he made his NHL debut. Starting in goal for the Calgary Flames vs the Chicago Blackhawks. Berra stopped 42 shots in a 3-2 overtime win. He played 29 games for the Flames that season before being traded to Colorado that same year. In the Avs' system, Berra even scored a goal in the AHL. Over three seasons with the Avs' organization, Berra appeared in a further 35 NHL games before being traded to Florida in 2016-17 where he appeared in 7 winless games. He was signed by Anaheim in 2017 and played the final 5 NHL games of his career. That off-season he also won another IIHF Silver. Berra returned overseas to play in Switzerland thereafter where he continues to be a star netminder and Swiss League award winner. In his NHL career, Reto Berra appeared in 76 games, going 20-36-4 with a 2.85GAA, 3 shutouts, 1 assist, and a 0.905% save average. |
