ITEM DESCRIPTION: In 2000-01, Gregg Naumenko wore this Anaheim Mighty Ducks home jersey in game action for the only start of his NHL career, a 5-2 defeat against the Phoenix Coyotes on April 6, 2001. The jersey also saw use while Naumenko was a back-up only an additional 5 times. It features light, though visible wear.
SHORT BIO: Born on May 30, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois, Naumenko was signed by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 1999. Turning pro that season with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the AHL, Naumenko's pro hockey career ended up lasting from 1999-00 to 2006-07, spanning the UHL, ECHL AHL, and the NHL. After backing up for ten games in the NHL, Naumenko made his NHL debut for the Mighty Ducks on March 21, 2001 vs the Dallas Stars. Relieving Jean Sebastien Giguere in goal for the final 10 minutes of the game, he stopped 4 of 6 shots that he faced. His NHL career only lasted for two games (along with twenty total back-up only appearances spanning 1999-2002), all with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. After a final season with the Trenton Devils in the ECHL in 2006-07, he retired from play. Since retiring, he took up coaching.
Among his career accolades include being named the NCAA (WCHA) Rookie of the Year, playing in the 2000 AHL All-Star Game, and representing the USA in the 2002 IIHF World Championships. In his NHL career, Gregg Naumenko appeared in 2 games, going 0-1-0 with a 5.99GAA, and a 0.759% save average. |
