Born on May 30, 1977, Gregg Naumenko, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was signed by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks as a 22 year old free agent in 1999, right out of college. He stayed with their farm team in Cincinnati until 2000-01, when he made his NHL debut on March 21, 2001, a 10 minute relief effort for Jean Sebastien Giguere, where Naumenko allowed two goals on a total of six shots. The next game, which would turn out to be the only ever start and final game of his NHL career, occurred on April 6, 2001 against the Phoenix Coyotes. Naumenko and the Mighty Ducks were defeated 5-2 that day. After that game, he found his way back down to the minors, never to play another game in the NHL again, eventually retiring at the end of the 2006-07 season after jumping back and forth with various ECHL and AHL teams (a total of 16 times to be exact).
