tim thomas
2013-14 team usa game worn ccm pads
(also worn with florida panthers)
Born on April 15, 1974 in Flint, Michigan, Tim Thomas was the starting goalie at the University of Vermont when he was drafted 217th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in 1994. The 1996 World Championship Bronze Medalist for Team USA transitioned to the pro ranks in 1997-98 and split the season between the IHL, ECHL, and HIFK Helsinki in Finland. He was signed by the Edmonton Oilers in 1998 and this time split the season between Hamilton and Helsinki, leading the Finnish club to a league title. After some more time split between North America and Europe, he was signed by the Boston Bruins in 2002. On October 19, 2002, Tim Thomas was given that shot he had been waiting for since 1994. Facing the Edmonton Oilers, he stopped 31 of 34 shots in a 4-3 victory. After 4 NHL games that year, Thomas did not return to the NHL until after the 2004-05 lockout year in which he recorded amazing SM-Liiga goaltending statistics. With Hannu Toivonen as the number two goalie to Andrew Raycroft in 2005-06, Thomas started the season in Providence. When Toivonen was out for the rest of the season with injury in January of 2006, Tim Thomas was recalled and he never looked back again.
As the starting goalie for Boston for the next six seasons, Thomas established himself as a superstar talent. He was an NHL All-Star in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012, a William M. Jennings Trophy winner in 2009, a Vezina Trophy winner in 2009 and 2011, a Stanley Cup Champ in 2011, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner in 2011, and an Olympic silver medalist in 2010. After a legendary stretch in Boston, Tim Thomas decided to take the 2012-13 season off and he was subsequently dealt to the Islanders in 2013, though never played for them. In 2013-14, he returned to the NHL with the Florida Panthers. After 40 games in Florida, he was traded to Dallas where he appeared in the final 9 NHL games of his career (regular season and playoffs). His final professional hockey action came that off-season when he represented Team USA as its starting goalie at the 2014 IIHF World Championships.
In his NHL career, Tim Thomas appeared in 426 games, recording a 214-145-0-49 record with 31 shutouts, 7 assists, a 2.52GAA, and a 0.920% save average. In 51 playoff games, he recorded a 29-21 record with 6 shutouts, 1 assist, a 2.08GAA, and a 0.933% save average.
What you are looking at right now is a set of CCM pads and a glove used by Tim Thomas with both the Florida Panthers during the 2013-14 regular season and with Team USA when he played his final hockey games at the 2014 IIHF Worlds. There is also a pair of size 10 game issued Tim Thomas skates (though that particular piece is available for trade or sale as I neither have interest in skates, nor game-issued items).
Acquired from: Classic Auctions, includes LOA.
Dates of Game Use:
The pads saw NHL action 9 times from December 3, 2013 to February 7, 2014 and was worn for all 8 games that Thomas played in the 2014 IIHF Worlds.
