ALLEN YORK
2011-12 GAME-WORN COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS THIRD SET 1 JERSEY
*FIRST NHL WIN WORN JERSEY
Allen York, born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on June 17, 1989, was drafted 158th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2007. Opting to finish his collegiate career with RPI of the NCAA, York eventually turned pro in 2010-11. Despite minimal time in the AHL and ECHL, York was given his chance at the big time in 2011-12 to back-up former Calder Trophy winner, Steve Mason. His first ever NHL game was a short two minute appearance in relief for Mason on October 25, 2011. And that was where it began. Allen York scored 11 NHL games in his first season and recorded a 3-2-0 record with a 2.30 GAA and a 0.920% save average. Ultimately, those turned out to be the only NHL stats of his career, as the following season on, he struggled to get ice time and good numbers in the NHL minor leagues, eventually dropping out of professional play altogether after 2015-16 to play in the North Central Senior Hockey League where he still occasionally plays to this day.
This jersey was game-used in several games, starting on November 5, 2011, against the Flyers in Allen York's 4th NHL game, then February 18, 2012 against the Blackhawks, in his fifth NHL game. It was also worn in several other games as a back-up only jersey. Probably the most significant game it was worn in, however, was in Allen York's 8th career NHL game on March 28, 2012. Getting only his second ever start in the big-league, York was facing down the Red Wings powerhouse. He ended up stopping 29 of 31 shots in an eventual 4-2 victory, the first of his NHL career.
