2015-16 Game Worn calgary flames Road Set II Jersey
*final nhl game worn
Born on July 1, 1986 in Asikkala, Finland, this goaltender was drafted 191st overall by Tampa Bay in the 2004 Entry Draft. His name...Karri Ramo! In his first season after moving to North America, his play in the American League had earned him two appearances on the Tampa Bay Lightning, both relief efforts totalling 70 minutes of play. The following two seasons saw Ramo as the full-time backup in Tampa Bay, however, his possible rush to the "show" combined with the Lightning's generally weak years forced Ramo to leave North America and go into the KHL for four seasons. In 2013-14, the Calgary Flames signed Ramo and he had a breakthrough year recording 17 wins, two shutouts, a 0.911% save average, all vast improvements over his previous best numbers. In 2014-15, forming a tandem with Jonas Hiller, Ramo helped lead the Flames to the playoffs for the first time since 2008-09. The two goaltenders also got the team past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2003-04. In 2015-16, Ramo started off the season with some very underwhelming numbers, eventually leading the team to place him on waivers. However, as Jonas Hiller also struggled mightily and Joni Ortio was not quite ready to lead the team yet, Ramo was kept in the show until a season ending injury on February 11, 2016 led to Ortio being promoted to de facto starter. In 2016-17, no NHL team signed Ramo and in three tryout games with the Toronto Malies, Ramo posted no wins, and a less than impressive 3.80GAA. From there, he signed in the SM-liiga before joining the KHL in 2017-18. He missed the 2018-19 season, but signed with Djurgardens in Sweden in 2019-20. He most recently played in the German DEL in 2021-22.
In his NHL career, Ramo has appeared in 159 NHL games, recording a 60-63-18 record with five shutouts, four assists, a 2.85GAA, and a 0.906% save average. In seven playoff games, Ramo recorded a 2-3 record with a 2.86GAA and a 0.906% save average.
The piece you are looking is one of two 2015-16 Set II Road Sweaters worn by Karri Ramo from January 2, 2016, until the end of the season. Ramo used two sweaters in each set as he would wear both jerseys in a single game. This photomatched sweater was worn in five contests, including his 5th career shutout game, as well as his final NHL game. For a dual jersey set, the wear is quite nice and all over. He has also taken some puck/stick impacts quite high up in the neck area on the jersey, and I don't really see that too often with modern sweaters.
