1982-88 vancouver canucks Game-Used LOUISVILLE Stick
Frank Caprice, born April 2, 1962 in Hamilton, Ontario, was a standout OHL prospect before being drafted 178th overall by Vancouver in the 1981 Entry Draft. He won the gold medal with Team Canada during the 1982 World Juniors. He got his first chance in the NHL in 82-83, after being recalled by the Canucks. On February 24, 1983, Caprice suited up for the 'Nucks and allowed three goals on eight shots in the team's 8-0 loss, a tough start, but by no means the end of his NHL journey.
Next season, he had worked his way up to the official back-up role in Vancouver by December, and he ended up appearing in 19 games that year. He won each of his first three NHL starts and recorded his first career shutout in January of 1984. In 1984-85, he got the chance to be the number one goalie ahead of Richard Brodeur, though injury unfortunately set that back several months. He remained the backup goaltender on the team, jumping between Vancouver and the AHL all the way until the end of the 1987-88 season. After two additional seasons in the minors in North America, and two years off from hockey, Caprice took on a long stint in Europe and eventually retired at the end of the 1998-99 season.
In 102 NHL games, Caprice recorded a 31-47-11 record with one shutout, a 4.20GAA, and a 0.859% save average. He appeared in no playoff games.
