Linus Ullmark
2015-16 Buffalo Sabres/Rochester AmericaNS PRACTICE wORN ccm bLOCKER
What you are looking at right now is a 2015-16 practice used CCM blocker that was used by Linus Ullmark with the Buffalo Sabres/Rochester Americans during his rookie season. It exhibits solid wear, indicative of a netminder who was hungry to become a full-time NHL netminder, and it is safe to say that he has done that in the years since.
Born on July 31, 1993 in Lugnvik, Sweden, Ullmark was drafted 163rd overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2012. In only his first full pro-season in the Swedish elite league (2013-14), Ullmark led the SHL in save percentage, shutouts, was named the league's goalie of the year, and he also earned an IIHF World Championship bronze medal as the national team's backup for good measure.
He joined the North American pro ranks in 2015-16 and in the first month of the season, already earned himself a call-up to the NHL. Then, on October 24, 2015, Ullmark got his shot with the Sabres. Starting in goal vs the New Jersey Devils, he stopped 24 shots in a 4-3 loss. That year, though he spent much of the season in Rochester, Ullmark ended up appearing in 20 games for the Sabres, going 8-10-2 with a 0.913% save average. Showing promise, UIlmark continued his development in the AHL as he was an AHL All-Star in both 2017 and then 2018, though he did see 6 more games of NHL action in those two seasons.
He became a full-time NHLer in 2018-19 and after three more seasons in Buffalo as a solid 1B netminder, he was signed as a free agent by the Boston Bruins in 2021. In his first season with them, he posted 26 wins, a 2.45GAA, and a 0.917% save average in 41 games to show he meant business between the pipes. Then, 2022-23 was his big breakout season. In 49 games played, he recorded 40 wins, 2 shutouts, a 1.89GAA, a 0.938% save average, and he also joined an exclusive group of NHL goalies when he scored a goal on February 25, 2023 vs Vancouver. He was also an NHL All-Star and the winner of the Vezina and Jennings Trophies that season. Though that season's playoffs did not match the expectations of the club going into it, Ullmark has continued his solid play into 2023-24.
As his NHL career is very much ongoing, career stats will not be posted at this time.
