Dan Vladar
2022-23 calgary flames game worn bauer goalie blocker
What you are looking at right now is a game worn 2022-23 Bauer goalie blocker used by Dan Vladar while with the Calgary Flames. It exhibits extreme wear and was very difficult to photomatch as not only did Vladar used tons of blockers each season, he would also sometimes use more than one per game, then on top of that, he sometimes even cleaned the marks off of his blockers between games so wear would vanish or fade. Fortunately, this blocker was definitively photomatched to a November 1, 2022 matchup vs the Seattle Kraken where Vladar stopped 21 shots in a 5-4 defeat. No less than 7 points of matching were identified in the image. Though we could not find other photos of him using this exact blocker after that, the wear would indicate that he did use it at other times in the future, possibly in practices as well. The match can be found in the link near the photomatched info.
Born on August 20, 1997, in Prague, Czech Republic, Vladar was a silver medalist at the 2014 IIHF World Juniors before being drafted 75th overall by the Boston Bruins in 2015. He transitioned to the North American pro ranks in 2015 with the Chicago Steel in the USHL. He began his gradual grind up through the minors, working his way through the USHL, ECHL, then to the AHL. The Bruins gave him his first recall in 2018, though Vladar did not get to play in any games. In 2019-20, he led the AHL with both the best goals against average and the best save percentage leading to his NHL debut on August 26, 2020 in the playoffs vs Tampa Bay. Replacing Jaroslav Halak in goal for the Bruins, Vladdar stopped 12 of 15 shots that he faced in just under 30 minutes of action. After 5 more games played with the Bruins in 2020-21, Vladar was acquired by the Calgary Flames. Earning the full-time backup role in Calgary behind Jacob Markstrom, Vladar appeared in 50 total games over his first two seasons there (2021-22 and 2022-23), while recording 27 wins and 2 shutouts along the way. As of the time of this write-up, he is still under contract to play with Calgary in 2023-24
As he is still active, career stats will not be posted at this time.
Acquired from: Calgary Flames organization
Dates of Game Use:
Nov 1, 2022 vs Seattle (21-26, 5-4L)
Due to the wear, other games and possible practice use is likely
