Laurent Brossoit was born on March 23, 1993 in Port Alberni, British Columbia. As a prospect with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL, Brossoit was drafted 164th overall by Calgary in 2011. In 2012, he led Edmonton to the WHL Championship and he was also named the playoff MVP. After another year of juniors, Brossoit transitioned to the pros, though was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in November 2013. He spent the majority of the year with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL and he finished the year with the lowest GAA in the league. Next year, as the starter for Oklahoma City, Brossoit got that chance every goalie dreams of. On April 9, 2015, Brossoit got the start in goal vs the San Jose Sharks and he was thrown to the metaphorical wolves. He faced 51 shots and stopped 49 as the Oilers were defeated 3-1. Over the next three seasons, he split time between Bakersfield and Edmonton, appearing in 28 total NHL games with the Oilers. The Winnipeg Jets signed him as a free agent in 2018 and he was the team's full time back until 2021, playing 54 games with them in the process. As a free agent, Brossoit was signed to a two year contract by the Vegas Golden Knights to be the backup to Robin Lehner starting in 2021-22.
