Tobias Stephan, of Zurich, Switzerland was born on January 21, 1984. The 34th overall draft pick in 2002, he was selected by the Dallas Stars. Stephan persevered in Europe and in the American Hockey League before making it onto the NHL scene in 2007-08. In his lone game that year, on October 13, 2007, he put up 38 saves on 40 shots against a powerhouse Blackhawks team, but ultimately lost in overtime. That performance remained in the memory of management and thusly earned him a coveted spot as Marty Turco's back-up goaltender the following year. He saw NHL action in 10 games in 2008-09, compiling a 1-3-1 record with a 3.70 GAA, and a 0.870 save average. After the conclusion of the season, Stephan returned to Switzerland to play where he still plays as of the 2022-23 season.
In his short 11 game NHL career, Stephan recorded a 1-3-2 record with one assist, a 3.49GAA, and a 0.883% save average.
